Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Who we are
DestinationShift is a travel destination comparison platform operated by Joshua Tyler Turner, based in Chur, Switzerland. This policy explains what data we collect through destinationshift.com, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
2. What data we collect
We collect the following information when you voluntarily provide it:
- Waitlist signup: Your email address, submitted through the waitlist form on the homepage.
- Search queries: The destination you search for in the search bar, stored alongside your waitlist signup to help us understand traveler interest.
- DMO contact form: Your name, organization, email address, destination, and message, submitted through the partnership inquiry form.
We do not currently run analytics scripts or tracking pixels on the site. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) may be collected by our hosting provider as part of normal operations.
3. How we use your data
- Waitlist emails: To notify you when the platform launches or new features become available.
- Search queries: To understand which destinations travelers are most interested in, which helps us prioritize content and destination coverage.
- DMO inquiries: To respond to your partnership interest and follow up on destination submissions.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build behavioral profiles. We do not sell or rent your information.
4. Data storage
Your data is stored on Supabase, a cloud database platform with infrastructure hosted in the EU. Access to the database is restricted to the DestinationShift team. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
5. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as it is needed to provide our services. If you joined the waitlist, we keep your email until we launch and you either sign up or ask to be removed. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
6. Cookies
DestinationShift does not currently use cookies for tracking or analytics. No third-party advertising cookies are set. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and implement a cookie consent mechanism.
7. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the site:
- Supabase (database and authentication infrastructure)
- Netlify (website hosting and deployment)
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have specific concerns about how your data is processed by these providers.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR and Swiss data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to processing of your data
To exercise any of these rights, email joshua.turner@stud.fhgr.ch. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as the platform evolves. If we make significant changes, we will note the update date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
